Ladies Beware! I am quite surprised at the good reviews this place has after my experience today. I have a 4 year old Kia that needed an oil change and my state inspection prior to traveling for the holidays. I dropped my car off in the morning and planned to pick it up in the afternoon. A few hours later a staff member called me to tell me my car badly failed the state inspection and proceeded to give me a laundry list of parts and services my car needed to pass inspection. I clearly asked after hearing all of this what was the minimum that my car needed to pass the state inspection today. He clearly stated I needed 4 brake pads, 2 rotors, and a minimum of 2 new tires. In addition he told me my car was basically out of coolant and needed a coolant flush before coolant could be put back in, and a brake fluid flush, etc. This didn?t sound right to me, I?m not an idiot. Even I know that if my car was out of coolant it would overheat. My husband is a retired mechanic and I called him and told him what they said and emailed him the inspection list. Long story short, one of my tires had a nail in it and that was the only thing that needed replaced for my car to pass inspection. My husband went through the inspection list and knew the Va State minimums for tires and brake pads for it to pass. Once he told them that, talked to their state inspector they changed their tune. I ?misunderstood ? and it was their ?courtesy? inspection my car failed, it only needed one tire to pass the state inspection. Also, my oil change when I called to set up the appointment was quoted at $70-$80. When I got by initial list of parts and the cost my oil change was suddenly $120. It ended up being $75. Even though my car would have passed with 1 tire we bought 4, but even with my husband being as knowledgeable as he is, they still tried to over quote him for the tires. After all this. My husband again gave them the market rate for the tires and it?s amazing that suddenly that market rate price ended up being the cost of the tires. My brakes passed but those are being put on elsewhere tomorrow since I will be traveling. If they would have just been honest, we probably would have had all the work done there, but the employees working there are taking advantage of women, and probably anyone else they think they can manipulate. They make commission. Remember that. You can also look up all of the specs for your vehicle to pass inspection. I strongly advise not using this particular shop.
