I went to the place a few times and had good experiences there in the past. A recent experience, however, changed my opinion of the place. About 4 weeks ago, I purchased 4 tires from Goodyear and had them installed at Tire Choice. When the receptionist talked with me on the phone and gave a quote for an oil change for $57 without my asking, I said yes. When I took the car to the shop the next day, I wanted to confirm the quote. Mike was there to get my key. I asked him for a quote on the oil change. He worked on the computer with me standing right in front of him. After a few minutes, he was still working on the computer. I asked him whether he had got a quote; he said he was looking for something else. I felt a little strange and asked him to give me a quote. He said he could not. Why not? He needed to open the hood to get me a quote. It was a little weird. I had a good experience with the place before. I left the car there and had them change the oil anyway. In the afternoon, I got a call from them to let me know the car was ready. I was out of Oxford and said I would pick up the car the next day. The person said no, and I had to pick up the car that afternoon. I arranged to have the car picked up and paid $131 for the oil change (I prepaid the tires). Given that an oil change at a dealer would have cost more than $200, I felt $131 was pretty reasonable. However, when I looked at the dashboard, the red warning light was on. The overdue maintenance light was not reset either. Fortunately, it was just the hood not properly closed. One would have thought the mechanic would have noticed that. (It would be worse if they knowingly let the car leave the shop with the red warning light on and didn't discuss it with the customers.)
